Wrong celebration of Valentine

Valentine's day is celebrated globally as a day of love and affection. People show their love for their significant others by giving gifts, flowers, chocolates, and spending quality time together. However, in Nigeria, the celebration of Valentine's day has taken a different turn, where many individuals have adopted a wrong way of celebrating the day. One of the ways Nigerians celebrate Valentine's day wrongly is by focusing too much on material gifts. People go to great lengths to impress their partners with expensive gifts such as designer clothing, jewelry, and luxurious experiences. While it's okay to spoil your significant other with gifts, it's essential to understand that the true essence of Valentine's day lies in the expression of love and not just material things. Another way Nigerians celebrate Valentine's day wrongly is by forgetting the importance of spending quality time together. Instead of spending time with their partners, people get so caug...

History of Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day celebrated annually on February 14th, is a holiday that has been observed for centuries, originating from ancient Roman times. The celebration has a rich and storied history, marked by a mixture of religious and cultural influences. Valentine's Day originated as a pagan festival in the Roman Empire, known as Lupercalia. This festival was celebrated annually on February 15th and was dedicated to the goddess Juno, the goddess of women and marriage, as well as to the god Lupercus, the god of fertility. The festival was celebrated with feasting, dancing, and the exchange of gifts, including notes of affection, between friends and lovers. In the early days of Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church sought to Christianize the festival by dedicating it to Saint Valentine, a martyr who was imprisoned and executed for performing marriages in secret during the reign of the Roman Emperor Claudius II. The first recorded celebration of St. Valentine's feast day was in 4...
